countering Republicans complaining about protestors

Haven't posted a diary before so here goes. . .  Republican friends of mine have been complaining about how uncouth Democrats are and how they are doing such terrible things (and that hardly anyone protested the DNC).

I responded that it has something to do with power.  It's hard to protest a party that hasn't had the power to pass whatever legislation they have wanted for the past few years.  

A quick google search found these quotes here that show that the Democrats faced much of the same when we were in power (1996).  Read the following section and see how similar it is to what happened 2 days ago. . .

A few minutes into Gore's speech, a female in the audience yelled for him to address the welfare issue. "OK, " Gore said. Suddenly, a man began repeatedly yelling, "Clinton kills people with AIDS!" which caught the vice president off-guard.

Audience members nearby tried to quiet Mel Stevens, a New York City resident and member of ACTUP, an AIDS activist group. The audience drowned out his protest by chanting "Four more years!"

Tell your Republican friends to quit complaining.
